Subaru WRX 2008 unveiled!
...and put back to rest.
Some pictures have leaked from the 2008 Subaru WRX model and I must say it was quite a surprise for many people. It doesn't look at all like a sport car anymore. They just terribly messed up the design to a point where it looks just like another Toyota Corolla.
First, the 2008 Subaru WRX sedan:

Noticed some similarities? Anyhow, they've made a lot of people angry, not sure to where this will eventually lead. Is this the end of their Impreza model? Probably not, but they'll need to put a lot more efforts if they want to conquer the compact sport cars segment as I'm not sure any sport car enthousiast will want something like this if you compare it to the Mitsubishi EVO X, its direct competitor.
Only sales figure will show which one people will prefer so we'll have to wait some more. Let's hope the competition will go on as this was good for the industry. Has Subaru chickened out? let's hope not.

The thing is, the new Impreza doesn't look like a sports car anymore, and this is a big turn off for the current Subaru enthusiasts.
But on the other hand the car still has the big hole in the hood and an average Joe and his wife Sue won't like it either. So I predict that N/A Impreza (without the hood scoop) will be much more popular than WRX.
Subaru really shot itself in the foot with this new design. Sad.

^+1 EXactly! I was thinking the same thing. If their target audience is the 40+ range... then they need to get rid of the scoop.
